Wyoming Pronghorn

By Bill Wood

November 1, 2017

My brother-in-law Rusty and I had planned this trip to Buffalo, Wyoming since the fall of 2016. We sent in a deposit to hold our spot in 2017 with Bear Track Outfitters. After reading up on the latest new calibers I quickly decided to purchase a Howa 1500 in the highly acclaimed 6.5 Creedmoor. Lots of practice off the bench and sticks at 200 yards and I felt very confident in this new cartridge.

After stalking a group of pronghorns with a nice buck for over two miles the 6.5 Creedmoor ELD-X 143 grain did it’s job at 261 yards. I told my guide it was zeroed in at 200 yards. He told me to aim where I wanted to hit. One shot kill as one always hopes. In this past year I’ve come across several new 6.5 Creedmoor owners and they’ve all been very pleased.

Thanks Hornady, for this great cartridge.
