My 1st trip to Wyoming for mule deer was really exciting. I bought a new DPMS light hunter in 308. In search of the best bullet I tested 5 different brands of ammo and the winner was Hornady Superformance 165 gr. On the last day of the hunt all the others in the group had their animals, and the weather took a turn for the worse - the wind really kicked up. Glassing the hills I spot a nice buck. Ranging the animal with my range finder it was 365 yds. Using the data listed on the box that I taped to my stock I allotted for the wind and took the shot successively hitting my target. I really think the bullet performance is truly the key.
