Most of the season was taking the kids hunting. When I finally got a chance to go out myself, this beautiful buck came by after about 20 minutes on my stand. When he stopped perfectly, broadside and in a shooting lane at about 50 yds. I squeezed off a shot from the .44 mag Ruger I was hunting with. 180r Hdy XTP took him through both lungs. I thought I'd missed until I climbed down to trail him - 30 yds. He looked so much bigger on the ground than he had from the stand. That was when I got excited!!
