I recently went pig hunting on a ranch in central California and had the opportunity to use the 6.5 cal. 120 gmx bullet in my 6.5-.284. I have to say that it is an awesome looking bullet with an exceptional b.c....especially for a non lead projectile that we have to use in California. When I worked up a load for my Remington 700 short action, which required the oal to be a maximum of 2.825 I was concerned how it would shoot. But after one day at the range I settled on a load that had 3 shots touching at 100 yards and that left the muzzle at 3315 fps.

I was thrilled with my new load bringing new life to my old 6.5 so I took it deer hunting but had no success. Then I got an invite to hunt pigs this April and finally got to test the gmx. I took 3 pigs on that trip.. all three were tough shots. The grass was tall so the shooting was offhand. Two were shot in the lungs and one through the shoulders. Two dropped right there and one made a 25 yard run. Two bullets exited but one large boar that was shot at about 150 yards through the shoulders hung onto a bullet. It was under the armor plate on the off side. It had passed through the pig but got hung up in the armor and was laying sideways under the hide. The recovered bullet weighed 115.7 gr.

The bullet shoots and preformed perfect and will have a permanent place in my ammo line-up. Thank you hornady for a great product!
