I've been shooting the 7x57 for over 50 years now. Until recently, using the same load given to me by a local gunsmith in my home town which is 1.2g over the current max recommended by Hornady; 44.5g IMR4350. Using the 154g Hornady IL SP flatbase, I've taken too many deer and feral pigs to count over those years. I have never had one go more than one step. I have dropped the old load to Hornady book max of 43.4g and it still does the job just fine. During "play testing" at the range, I recently found that 49g MRP gave about the same velocity, but slightly better grouping. Definitely a 'go-to' load and one that always gets the job done.
