Opening day stud

A friend had given me a box of 243 80 gr GMX Superformance ammo, I zeroed my 243 two nights before opening day, planning on using it for a doe that season. 15 minutes after legal light opening morning, I spot a doe only 60 yards from my blind. I decided to pass on her for an older doe when she spooked and out walked an absolute stud. As a believer in bullet design and a Hornady fan, I was still nervous about using such a small caliber on such a large buck. I hit him broadside at 60 yds. He walked off slowly and just as I started to doubt my caliber choice he toppled over 30 ft from where I shot him. When help arrived they thought I'd shot him with my 270 and 130 gr SST from the internal damage. Ended up with a 159 6/8" monster!
