This hunt ended up being non typical in all regards. From using my traditional custom made Southern Mountain Flintlock rifle to the magnificent northern non typical whitetail buck that I harvested with this gun on a very misty, wet late morning. Thanks to Hornady for the consistency with the lead round balls that I use in this gun. I use exclusively the .490 round ball which has never let me down. Fortunate for me, I was hunting the end of November 2024. I was able to stalk and get close to this buck due mostly to the rut. He was chasing a hot doe and not very concerned about me. What a thrill and hunt of a lifetime.
