Muzzle-Loader /XTP Coyote

The eve prior we had coyotes carrying on in thick cover on the IL deer lease. The next morning I gave the deer about 30 minutes to come by, with no action. This was a low key anterless-only hunt.

I pulled out my Crit-R-Call 'Pee-Wee' and gave a few tantalizing tweets, then silence. After 3-4 minutes two coyotes come out to the field edge, then sat 100 yards out. That body language told me they had no interest coming closer without good reason.

I slowly twisted with my Knight 45 Cal Elite. The load was 110 grains of B209 powder, crush rib sabot, and Hornady 200 grn .400" XTP. With the crosshairs on the boiler room the coyote went right down with the shot.

That has become my preferred load (.452" with 50 cal) for my Knight M-L, economical too. So far this Fall I have taken two deer and another coyote with that load, three shots, very easy recoveries.
