long log shot

I was hunting in a bottom adjacent to a swamp with large areas of open dry territory with 1 large tree down. 7 does and 1 small buck were feeding on mushrooms that were growing on the log. The largest doe had 3-4 inches of her back visible for a shot at the back bone. I put the cross hairs just above the log and squeezed of a shot. I picked up my binoculars up and counted 6 does and 1 doe looking at something on the ground. Since it was an antler less day, I repeated the shot. All of the deer left the area in a big rush. I measured the distance at 310 yards. The Hornady 130 grain 270 SST bullets dropped both deer on the spot.
