LOAD DEVELOPMENT

By SD0311MSG

August 28, 2016

I spent the weekend developing a load for my Remington 700 custom build by Jerry Rice. The rifle is topped with a Vortex 6-24x50 FFP EBR-2C MRAD in a Larue SPR-S LT158 mount. I settled on the following load. Remington brass full sized, Federal GM210M primer, and 36.7 grains of Hodgdon Varget. I only shoot from field positions since I don't find too many lead sleds, shooting tables, or BR-1000 front rests in the field. I shot all my groups today off an Eberlestock pack and used a sand sock for rear support.

I think I am ready for Whitetail and Elk hunting this Fall. I will try to do a follow up with penetration, terminal wound ballistics, and recovered bullets.
