Indiana Buck

A nice 8 point Sunday morning buck, opening weekend, 2014 in Indiana. This is the second deer for my new Ruger 77/44 rifle this season. I hand load Hornady 240 grain XTP bullets over H110 powder sighted in at 100 yards. The accuracy of the bullets at 100 yards is excellent so the proof would be in the performance of the bullet on a whitetail. I took a doe opening morning with the only shot it was going to give me... head on. The bullet entered the brisket, traveled thru the deer, and broke the hip joint on the opposite side! The buck presented a quartering broadside shot and didn't run far before collapsing in a heap. An impressive cartridge and an impressive bullet!
