First Rifle Buck

Indiana made high powered rifles legal for the first time in 2016. They only allowed .243 and .308 sized caliber shots to be legal, so I got a 308win! After some testing a Leupold scope to top it off I chose the Hornady American Whitetail 165grn Interlock loads. Thanksgiving it rained all day so the next day, which is known as "Red Friday," I took out after lunch for a spot and stalk hunt. After slowly stalking through the hardwoods I came upon a group of deer with one big one on the trail. I slowly eased up to about 40 yards away and settled the crosshairs on this nice Indiana 11 pointer. He didn't go 30 yards and I had my first rifle deer and best whitetail since 2004. I took him quartering away and the bullet went in and did its work and ended up going through the off shoulder and resting in the hide! He weighed 188lbs and I was thrilled!
