First Elk with ELD-X

I recently went on my first elk hunt in with East Fork Outfitters in Wyoming's Washakie Wilderness. On day 3 of the hunt, we located a good bull and set up. When he walked out at 110 yards, he was slightly quartering toward me. My shot was high, just behind the front right shoulder. The bull flinched and trotted about 30 yards. Moments later, as I prepared to take another shot, he fell over. I had taken my first elk! The 145 grain bullet from my .270 Win. performed well, passing through the lungs and lodging just under the skin on the far side in front of his back leg. Thanks Hornady for helping me take my first elk.
