I began the day as most hunts start on Antocosti- by slowly still-hunting. I was hunting a long valley and I kept on the side of the hill with the wind in my face and where I could watch the open areas along the slow moving stream on the valley bottom.

About 9 AM I saw this buck coming my way and the situation was perfect. He was coming through the small spruce trees where I could see him, but I was hidden. I waited until he got approximately 80 yards from me and when he turned broadside I took the off-hand shot. The 139 grain Interbond did the job perfectly. He ran about 40 yards and piled up alongside the stream.
