3x4 Muley

My first solo hunt and I took out this beautiful 3x4 Mule Deer in the mountains of Durango, CO in October 2015.

Early morning hunts are key and I was out in a meadow I'd staked out a few days prior by 7:30am. At around 8 I got funny feeling off to my left, and when I turned my head I saw this guy looking up the hill past me from about 60 yards out. I was sitting so still I don't think he ever saw me. I was sitting on my pack, and only my arms moved as I raised my rifle.

BOOM! The .270 140grn BTSP InterLock was moving so fast that it went through his heart and sped right out his left hindquarter. He ran about 25 more yards before he fell over, but he was dead before he ever hit the ground.
This hand-load worked extremely well out of my Ruger M77.

Next season, I'll be trying out the 165grn SST on some elk!
