2013 Roosevelt Cow

By Rod Huelter

November 25, 2013

I took this nice Roosevelt cow on the NW Oregon coast using a 454 I built myself and Hornady 240gr XTP Mags. I had the first shot at 60yds which shattered the left front leg just below the shoulder and passed through the chest. The cow was able to move off to about 80yds giving me only one shot at her hind end. The second bullet went in just to the left of the tail penetrating approximately 12" of muscle entering the body cavity just to the side of the tenderloin and continued to the diaphragm for a total of approx. 3 feet of penetration.
