1st African hunt

I had the great honor of going on my first African safari hunt August 2016. The trip was more than words can express. In my package was four animals which I completed my package and still had two more days to hunt.

I love long range shooting but have not been able to shoot over 200 yards here at home. So with this chance I explained I wanted to shoot over 500 yards. Well my PH only allowed me to take my Blue Wildebeest at 320 meters which I was ok with. I carried my Styer Pro Hunter .308. I normally load my ammunition but didn't want to take my hand loads so I purchased my favorite Hornady 168 Match A-MAX.

While on the stalk my PH started ranging the Wildebeest at 600 plus meters and it finally gave me the shoot at 320 meters. I took a high risk low percentage shot, bullet placement was in the neck severed the spine and the animal dropped in its tracks. Needless to say I was more than excited with my first Trophy in Africa. Neither animal I took walked away so we did not have to track anything. I have been shooting the 168gr. BTHP match ammo for almost 30 years but was very impressed with the A-MAX performance.

Thank you Hornady for producing the only ammo I use.
