17 Hornet-Savage Model 25

Shooting prairie dogs in White River, SD in July of 2013. Gun is a Savage Model 25 LWT Varminter chambered in the new 17 Hornet. Handloads consist of Hornady brass, Rem 6 1/2 primer, 9.0 grains Hodgdon Lil'Gun, all pushing a Hornady 20 grain V-Max. Load data came from the Hornady tech staff before manual was published with current data. The 17 Hornet is very quiet and quite powerful, as well as very accurate. Shots on p-dogs varied from 50 to 300 yards. Shots on dogs at 300 yards needed very little holdover, which to me was very impressive. Love what they do at Hornady, keep up the good work.
