12ga. Missiles

I had been hunting hard all season in OH. I had got glimpses of a few nice deer in bow season, but was yet to connect. When gun season rolled around it was more of the same. Thursday came with a feeling of maybe it wasn't my year. Me and two buddies decided to sit in a small patch of woods that we felt deer would be in due to being the only area groups of hunters hadn't tried to do a deer drive on. I had a scope on my shotgun so I went lower in the holler because it was more open and a buddy with open sights higher due to it being thicker with cover. I quickly found a tree blown over by a previous storm that offered a great seat and sturdy gun rest. When I got to the tree I heard a rustle of leaves and realized I was looking this buck eye to eye . He had been sleeping on the other side and didn't hear me sneak in. The buck jumped and ran to cross the field, and I centered my crosshairs. I let out a whistle, and the bucks front legs locked up for just a split second and I fired. Now any slug can kill with a perfect shot, but I had to shoot through the bucks leg, and later found out rib, and into the opposite leg. Due to him locking up when I whistled. Luckily these things shoot and hit like missiles. The blood trail led us right to him and the high fiving and thank you Lords, started from there.
