The 6.5 PRC Does it again!

October 16, 2023, hunting the Washington State General modern firearm deer hunt. My daughter Kacy had taken a little 2X3 Mulie on opening day, October 14th, so I was going to have the rest of the season to myself. I was sitting in my usual spot along the Columbia River in Southern Benton County when I observed a beautiful tall 5X6 Mulie buck crossing in the brush approximately 125 yards directly in front of me. I was already settled in and knew that my new rifle, a Springfield Waypoint 202O chambered in 6.5 PRC was going to make short work of the unfortunate fellow. I had been able to put 30 rounds through the rifle prior to the season but the suppressed carbon barreled rifle was shooting .5 MOA when I last eft the range. I centered up on the buck' left front shoulder and let loose with the venerable Precision Hunter 6.5 PRC 143 gr ELDX. The old by ran 30 yards and dropped. While the 3-year-old buck was nothing compared to the buck I took the year before, he was a very nice South-Central Washington State public land buck.
