One Shot, One Kill

A couple years ago I got a Marlin .336 and it didn't take too long to figure out that the LEVERevolution FTX 160 gr. cartridges was the ammuntion that it shot best with. At 100 yards w/ this ammunition I have a .5" grouping and most times my bullet holes touch. Not only that, I can tell you that exact fly pattern on the bullet from muzzle out to 100 yards.
For the last 10 years I've been hunting the Maine woods and my shots can be anything from 20 to 100 yards especially in the old logging areas where I can see down the pine rows. Up until this year I still haven't taken a good buck and that all changed this past November.
This buck stepped out at 40 yards on that 37 degree raining morning, I put my crosshairs on a tuft of fur and smoothly squeezed the trigger. I knew right away I didn't need to bother w/ a follow up shot. He didn't go 25 yards and when I recovered and field dressed him, it was a perfect pass thru and only a fraction of his heart was all that remained.
