I have killed many deer in my day. Some very good but none better then my son's first deer. We were sitting in a tree stand on Maryland's Eastern Shore on youth day. The sun started to come up over the trees and like something from a story book this 1.5 year old 6 point buck walked out. I looked over to my son and asked the question "YOU READY"? Without a pause he said "Yes sir, please let me take him." My first thought was the deer is a little young but nothing could change my mind when I saw the look on my son's face. The second thought on my mind was - can he make this 150 yd shot. I gave him the go, and boy did he go. My son Seth dropped that deer in its tracks. The feeling I had when that deer dropped and the smile on my son's face is a memory I will never forget. We sat there and hugged, high fived and I cried for 10 minutes. Yes I cried all you tuff guys, I couldn't help it. It was the proudest moment as a father you can ever imagine. Much of the thanks goes to my trusty Ruger 30-06 with my A.D.D. Hornady ammo. Thanks for helping to create this wonderful memory.
