Attached is a photo of an inland grizzly I shot this past week hunting with Mike (Buck) Bowden and his Hidden Alaska Guides outfit, shot about half way between Anchorage and McGrath. Did not take a moose or caribou (but saw a monster moose at great distance, and one 63 or so inch bull that we couldn't shoot because we found him the same day we flew into camp...efforts to find him later failed)... Can't wait to go back next year.
The grizzly squared a bit over 7 feet, was told by the local biologist who sealed the skull he was 5 years of age. He was shot with a Ruger 77 in .300 RCM topped with a Zeiss Conquest 4.5 to 14 scope and shooting Hornady 180 grain InterBond at a distance of approximately 200 yards - one shot - from a prone shooting position, using my hat as a rest. (SAAM training pays off again!)
