Hornady® Ammo Secures Wins in IDPA and IPSC Matches

Hornady® ammunition proved its accuracy and dependability, delivering winning results at the hands of Team Hornady® members during the California State IDPA Championship and US IPSC Nationals.

McGee wins ESP Overall during California State IDPA Championship

Bobby McGee (shown above) shot Hornady® 147 grain 9mm FMJ RN bullets in his pistol to win the ESP Overall Division at the 2013 California State IDPA Championship held October 5, 2013 at the Sacramento Valley Shooting Center. Battling a recent tibia bone contusion and partial knee fracture, McGee ran 11 stages that included close and immediate threats, and maneuvered unstable footing approaches to engage targets set as close as 3 yards, and out to 40 yards. “The RN bullets are easy to load, and feed smoothly through the chamber,” he said.

Voigt and Duff find the podium during the US IPSC Nationals

Universal Shooting Academy in Frostproof, Fla. was host to the US IPSC Nationals, October 10-12, 2013. Michael Voigt won Open Senior Division for the third time, shooting Hornady® 125 grain HAP® 9mm bullets. Voigt said the stage designs were tough. “Since this was an IPSC championship and a US Team qualifying match, the targets were smaller, faster and farther than typically seen,” he said. “Knowing my HAP bullets would fly exactly where they were pointed, no matter the velocity or pistol I used was a confidence builder.” Voigt’s performance qualified him as a member of the US Team for the 2014 World Championship.

Still enjoying her recent win from the USPSA Open Nationals, Jessie Duff finished the Open Division in second place, securing a spot on the Ladies Open US Team for the 2014 World Championship. Duff shot Hornady® 9mm 125 grain HAP® bullets in her pistol. “These bullets continue to be my go-to,” she said. “It’s a perfect load that allows me to focus on my performance.”

Bringing her game plan to the match, Maggie Reese finished third in Production Division shooting Hornady® 125 grain HAP® 9mm Steel Match® ammunition, and Blake Miguez finished in fifth place in Standard Division.

Match Director Frank Garcia had big ideas about how to prepare competitors for World Shoot XVII 2014. “I included in the 24 stages, classic IPSC targets, poppers, hardcover and swinging targets all set at different heights,” he said. “They tested shooters’ acquisition and flexibility.”
