2013 Shooting Industry Masters
Team Hornady® Wins Industry Open Division at 2013 Shooting Industry Masters
Four passionate Team Hornady® members, Jeff Cramblit, Bennie Cooley, Tate Moots and team captain, Rick Porter, won the Industry Open Division during the 2013 Shooting Industry Masters held in Cody, Wyoming July 19-20, 2013. Industry leaders, professional shooters and first timers were given the opportunity to experience shooting handguns, rifles and shotguns all in the spirit of supporting the NSSF First Shots program.
The historical setting of the Cody Firearms Museum and the Buffalo Bill Historical Center, along with the beautiful backdrop, gave competitors a true sense of the Wild West experience. In addition to the main event of sporting clays and four rifle and pistol stages, numerous side events mesmerized competitors and delighted newcomers.
Side matches included “The Crazy Quail” comprised of four clay machines attached to a rotating disk, throwing 160 targets per minute in every imaginable direction and angle. Benelli set up a 3-Gun Challenge that raised everyone’s adrenaline, while others gave a crank at a Colt Gatling Gun and a chance to shoot an 1873 Lever Action Replica Winchester Rifle chambered in 357/38.
Rick Porter, team captain, offered advice to the squad, “I told the guys, who are all experienced 3-Gunners, to work together, stay calm and focus, and their shooting would be accurate enough to win.”
Cramblit said, “This event enables new shooters to be introduced to the sport. Team Hornady wanted to contribute our expertise, enthusiasm and welcoming spirit. We had a terrific time!”
